Top Shoe Company Uses Fabric Design from Online Alumnus

Heutchy designDanny Roberts, a 2007 online Fashion alum with a focus on fashion illustration, recently collaborated with men's shoe company Heutchy on a shoe line. The line, developed by designer Wells Stellbergers, seeks to bridge the gap between casual and formal.

Inspired by the rooftops of city buildings, Danny's artwork has been digitally printed onto the shoe's leather. The shoe is sold in select boutiques across the United States and online at Asos.com.

In 2007, Danny transferred to Academy of Art University from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo after searching for an outlet that he felt more encouraged artistic development. The change was exactly what he needed. "My experience has been a breath of fresh air," he said. "Here, creativity is rewarded."

Since then, his creativity has been rewarded many times, collaborating with other top brands, including Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers totes, handbags and T-shirts, and one of the Gap's 40th anniversary limited edition t-shirts, all of which featured Danny's designs.

Danny has come a long way from the days of making iron-on shirt designs and drawing comic books at age 5.  Most recently he has been gaining attention from the fashion industry and critics alike for his illustrations. He has even been profiled recently in publications such as TeenVogue.com, Vogue Brasil, Vogue Germany, Women's Wear Daily, and many numerous blogs.

Danny's illustration and photography work can be seen on his Web site, Igor + André, at igorandandre.blogspot.com.
